1.
Is the
level of Bandwidth used dependent on the level of usage ?
[Top]
Bandwidth required is the sum of all broadcast TV channels and VOD sessions up until the backbone switch. After that its only multicast traffic and unicast
VOD sessions.
2.
What is the
approximate Bandwidth for 1500 rooms ?
[Top]
No. of users : 1500
The No. of Floors : 25
No. of TV Channels offered : 50
A Distribution switch has to be used for each floor.
So in a working environment taking the worst case scenario when everybody has
switched on the TV. Following could be close approximate of the network
bandwidth.
No. of TV’s per floor = 1500 / 25 => 60
No. of users watching VOD = 10% of (1500 / 25)
~ 6 concurrent users per floor
6 X 10 Mbps = 60 Mbps is the bandwidth consumed by people watching VOD.
If the rest of the people on the floor are watching TV then
50 Channels X 6 Mbps = 300 Mbps
Total Bandwidth = VOD bandwidth + TV bandwidth
Total Bandwidth = 60 + 300 = 360 Mbps
