Deuromedia compatible with just any TV or some specific ones ?

There are 2 kinds of TV sets generally available in the market.
1. Home TV
2. Industrial TV
Industrial TV is same as Home TV but has some extra interfaces added on to
it. for Eg. RS232 interface. Thru these interfaces other devices can be
connected which serves the purpose of the industrial site, These industrial TVs
are seen mostly in Hotels, Airports,Shopping Malls etc.
The purpose of using Industrial TV in the case of Deuromedia is to avoid using 2
remote controls, one for TV and the other for the Set Top Box, as both the TV
and STB can be controlled by one Remote control. Which cannot be done so in case
of Home TV.
Any TV that has an RS232 interface can be used.

Does the STB have Serial
interface or just IR?

Deuromedia has both serial and IR ports on the STB. The serial port is used to connect the STB to the TV set, So that only one remote control can be used to control both TV and STB.

Are there any USB
ports provided on the Amino set top box ?

Yes, there is 1 USB port.
4.
What operating system is used at the server level and at the set top box ?

It’s a totally Linux based system with Linux Fedora Core 4 at the server.

When there is a upgrade, is it a Software upgrade or Hardware upgrade ?

In most (99%) of the cases its software updates, only in case of major
problems which may appear in time with some box components then the hardware
needs to be replaced.

Can the STB
and TV set be integrated and built together ?

Yes, there are TV sets (20" - 42") available with integrated STB.

Can the system be integrated with other STB's from other vendors such as Amino ?

Yes, The system can be integrated with Amino (AminNet 110).
The minimum requirement to configure any other STB :
1. CPU power of of at least 350 MIPs as of AminNet 110.
2. A minimum of 16 Mbytes Flash Memory for software storage as of AminNet 110.

many proxy servers are required to accommodate 200 channels ?

1 server per 100 channels is required, hence to accommodate 200 channels 2
servers are necessary.

Currently Dell is recommended but any other hardware such as hp can be

13. Is the STB equipped with decryption set up

This can be achieved during configuration.

Presently the STB is diskless, so office applications are not supported. But
if necessary this feature can be customized.

Is PVR(personal video recorder) and nPVR(network personal video recorder)

16. Where is encryption done ?

Deuromedia does not encrypt. The signal is just decrypted, This is achieved
on the TV Server from where the signal is obtained by DVB cards along with CI.
17.
Why does Deuromedia need
to go only with UDP ?

It supports RTP streams which are based on UDP because RTP relies on a protocol to “transport” it. UDP support will be available as of march 2006
18. Is
the Keyboard IR based or RF based ?
